Synopsis

In the Bundestag elections of 2009, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) only reached 23% of votes –their lowest result since the foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany. Lutz Hachmeister observed the party for eighteen months after this dramatic election, creating an unusual long-term portrait of the SPD and its lead figures in search of the political soul of their historically-charged party.
